Mr. Jerry Lauby

Dear Mr. Lauby:

Thank you for contacting me regarding H.R 2519, the American Legion 100th Anniversary Commemorative Coin Act. I appreciate hearing from you on this important issue.

As you may know, Representative Timothy J. Walz (D-MN) introduced H.R. 2519, the American Legion 100th Anniversary Commemorative Coin Act, on May 18, 2017. This bill would require the Department of the Treasury to mint and issue commemorative coins in recognition and celebration of the 100th anniversary of the American Legion. Surcharges from the sale of these coins will be paid to the American Legion to help them promote the importance of caring for those who have served or are still serving in the military and why our country should maintain its patriotic values. H.R. 2519 has been referred to the House Committee on Financial Services, where it awaits further action.
I want to relay to you my unwavering support for our nation's veterans and their families. The men and women who served our nation in the Armed Forces should be honored for their service and sacrifice while defending freedom and democracy and fighting terrorism throughout the world. I will be sure to keep your thoughts in mind should H.R. 2519 be brought to the House Floor for a vote.

I want to thank you again for taking the time to contact me. Representing you in Congress is an honor and a privilege, and I appreciate hearing from you. Please do not hesitate to contact me again about this issue or any others that may come up in the future.
