BADGER BOYS STATE 2018

    Greetings From Badger Boys State!

We wanted to remind you that sponsorships are due by January 31.  If you have already sent in your sponsorship in, thank you!  You can still donate after this time if spaces are available; however, donating by January 31 guarantees your spot.  Most schools begin their selection process in January, so it is important to ensure you send your sponsorship money by this date.  This also allows us to get students registered and prepare for the spring orientations.

If you have misplaced your sponsorship packet or need a new packet, you can contact Sheri Hicks at the WI American Legion at 608-745-1090.

Badger Boys State is a program that positively changes the lives of young men throughout the state of Wisconsin.  For more than 75 years, the Wisconsin American Legion has put together a world-class program promoting the governmental process and structure, leadership, citizenship, and patriotism to nearly 900 young men annually.  The program is only possible because of sponsorships like yours.

Sincerely,

BADGER BOYS STATE 2018

    Dear School Representatives,

Greetings From Badger Boys State!

I am writing to let you know that the registration materials for Badger Boys State have recently been sent out to the sponsors who have sent in their request to reserve a spot for the 2018 session of Badger Boys State. If you have not already done so, now would be a good time to reach out to your local sponsor to make sure that they have sent in their sponsorship and to check to see if they have received the registration materials.

The fee to sponsor a student to Badger Boys State this year is $300. If you do not have a local sponsor your high school may sponsor a student directly. If you need help sponsoring a student our BBS Alumni Association has a limited number of sponsorships available. To learn more about these please contact Bill Cosh at (608) 770-1282 or billcosh@hotmail.com.

Most schools select their representative to BBS in January and February. Students selected should complete the online registration by March 31st. To complete the registration you will need a unique password on the registration card that was sent to your sponsor. If you or your sponsor has lost the registration card please contact Sheri Hicks at the WI American Legion at (608) 745-1090.

It is important to also have the student that your school selects as the alternate complete the online registration. Every year BBS has a number of cancellations. If a school does not have an alternate or is not able to find a student who wants to attend we will reach out to other alternates across the state who have expressed interest in attending BBS. To do so, we need to make sure that they have completed the online registration so we have a way of contacting them.

If you have more students interested in attending BBS than you have sponsorships available please contact Bill Cosh at (608) 770-1282 or billcosh@hotmail.com for assistance. Each year BBS applies for a number of grants to help fund additional spots for students who want to go to BBS.

Starting in April BBS will hold a series of 1-hour orientation programs around the state for the students who have been selected to attend, their parents and the alternates who have expressed interest in wanting to attend BBS. These orientation programs will be held in about 44 locations.
We have recently updated our web page. It is a great source of information for students who are considering attending BBS but who want to learn more about the program before committing to go. In addition, here is a link to a video that highlights the experience they will receive at BBS.  In addition, we have a number of videos on YouTube from past programs as well as interviews with past participants.

If you have any questions, or if I can be of further assistance please feel free to contact me at anytime.

Sincerely,
Chad Plenge ('06 BBS Citizen)
